Chapel U Lunch and Learn:

Bible and Spiritual Journaling --

a way to experience your spiritual study more deeply.

Elaine Davis of Illustrate Faith, our host, will take us step-by-step through the emerging art of spiritual journaling. Don't be intimidated! It's easy to begin and no artistic experience is required!

Chapel U will present two workshop opportunities:

Wednesday, September 20th, 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Cost for lunch and all materials: $5
Sponsored by Stonecrest of Meridian Hills

Saturday, September 30th, 2:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Cost for snack and all materials, $10

WHAT IS IT?
Bible journaling is a hybrid diary where you keep both notes on your study of the Bible and also a record of things that happen in your everyday life. Over time, as you analyze and study the Bible, you can apply what you've learned to your life experiences, and create a spiritual time capsule, of sorts. Some people enjoy expressing themselves more artistically and some take a more literary approach
-- writing their thoughts and feelings -- but the effect is to bring you a deeper appreciation of all you have learned from your study.

Q: Should I journal in my current study Bible?
A: Probably not. Of course, it's your choice, but this kind of journaling is generally done in a journaling Bible but to be honest, they're a little pricey. Other great options include a hymnal, an inexpensive (think Dollar Store) Bible, a devotional book, or a blank journal. You may bring your own to the class, but it isn't necessary. We will provide you with everything you need to begin.

Q: I feel weird about journaling in a Bible.
A: We respect that. You will have many book options to choose from in the class.

Q: How much?
A: Each class is priced differently but the nominal fee ($5 or $10, depending on the date) covers your lunch or snack and all materials. Please do bring a friend, the more the merrier, but we definitely need your RSVP (by September 11th for the class on the 20th and by the 21st for the class on the 30th) in order to have everything prepared for you.

Q: Can I attend both workshops?
A: Absolutely! Each workshop features a different set of materials and a different devotional. You should definitely attend both!

THE ONLY WAY TO RSVP FOR THIS EVENT IS TO CALL THE CHURCH OFFICE AT 317.846.3429. If you get the voicemail, please leave your full name and phone number or email so that we can confirm with you.

We look forward to seeing you!
