NEWS: Holy Week at Union Chapel Indy

Posted by Pastor Elizabeth Gilbert on

Dear Friends,

Thank you for all the ways you have contributed to a meaningful Lenten season here at Union Chapel Indy! I know that I - and so many - have been encouraged as we’ve gathered for worship, study, fellowship, prayer, and ministry together.

As we close the Lenten season and celebrate Jesus’ resurrection, please join me for the following worship experiences. And please invite and bring friends and family who might also find hope in experiencing the Good News of Easter!

  • Holy Thursday Worship, April 14, 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary. This multi-sensory worship experience will draw us close to the events of the final days of Jesus’ earthly life and prepare us for the Easter Sunday Celebration. Come with the expectation of being moved by the story and the experience.
  • Good Friday Worship, April 15, 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary. The Garden Community Church (UMC) invites you to experience a non-traditional Good Friday worship experience. All are welcome.

And then… on Easter Sunday we will move to a new time for Sunday morning Sanctuary Worship. On Sunday, April 17, worship start time will move to 10:30 a.m. In our effort to be as inclusive as possible and create the most accessible worship experience, Sunday morning in-person worship will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Easter Sunday and the Sundays following. We look forward to worshiping with you at 10:30 a.m. on Easter Sunday and thereafter.

Should you have questions about any of these worship experiences, please be in touch with me or the church office. You can reach me by email at , or through the church office at 317.846.3429. I would look forward to hearing from you.

Please know that you are in my prayers through these most holy days that lead us to the Easter celebration. The power of even these dark days of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Silent Saturday, is that God is at work even here preparing to bring new life out of the darkness and death. May you know God’s presence and power in your life this week and always.

Blessings,

Rev. Elizabeth Gilbert
