Holy Thursday Prayer Walk at Union Chapel Indy
The Way of the Cross, also known as Stations of the Cross, is the practice of using scenes of the final hours of Jesus' life as a structure for prayer and meditation. You are invited to experience Holy Thursday with beautiful art representing the Stations and interactive prayer. This self-guided, socially distanced, sacred experience is available Thursday, April 1, 6-8 p.m.
As a part of their acts of devotion, early Christian pilgrims to Jerusalem retraced the route of Jesus as he carried his cross to his death. Since many people could not make the arduous pilgrimage to Jerusalem, in the medieval period there developed the practice of using depictions of these stations in sacred settings to allow worshipers to make the same devotional journey.
Artwork and prayer stations have been prepared to guide your journey along the Way of the Cross this Holy Thursday. At each station (posted in the Great Room and Sanctuary of Union Chapel Indy) you are invited to pause, read the accompanying Scripture, participate in various interactive prayer prompts, and reflect on Jesus’ journey to the cross.
Mask will be required and participants will be asked to socially distance.
Enter through the new west entrance.
