Grandparent's Day, Sunday, September 12 - Bring the Whole Family to Church!

Many of us have grown up in the era of highly specialized services, programs, and resources. Depending on our age, we might seek out an early childhood program to enrich our children's day-to-day experiences. We might look for a community where young adults tend to live so as to be near people of similar age and interests. We might seek out friends who are also empty-nesters with whom we can socialize. We might look for an elder law attorney as we age and have legal or financial matters to care for.

This specialization has also become a part of many of our faith experiences, too, as it has become popular to have a youth program in a church, as well as children's programs, young adult ministries, and senior activities. These all have the potential to be effective, meaningful experiences for participants. And... there are meaningful experiences to be had as a variety of age groups come together for worship, faith formation, and service.

On the Hallmark Holiday known as Grandparents' Day, we celebrate the opportunity for all ages to come together in praise, worship, and celebration. We will join with the Psalmist in together celebrating God's good work among us! (Psalm 145:4)

Grandparents, bring your grandchildren. Children, bring your grandparents. Families, if you don't have one or the other, borrow someone's for the day. We will worship together in the sanctuary at Union Chapel Indy at 9:30 a.m., on Sunday, September 12, and then during IGNITE at 10:45, we will learn and grow together with games, fun, food, and crafts! Invite your friends to bring the little ones in their lives, too. Everyone is welcome at this inter/multigenerational, family-friendly, worship event and activities!
